The gentle wipe-down
Once or twice a year — more often on the coast or near industry — give the panels a quick wash. A hose-down or a soft cloth with mild soapy water removes road grime, pollen and bird droppings.
The strimmer spot-check
A rogue lawnmower pebble or an over-enthusiastic strimmer can occasionally chip the finish. The zinc layer protects it short-term, but a touch-up paint pen over the mark seals it completely.

No. Panda Buildings feature factory-applied galvanising and powder coating, creating a durable protective finish. You will never need to paint, stain, varnish, or apply anti-rot treatments to keep the building weatherproof.
Galvanised steel is coated with a zinc layer that acts as a sacrificial barrier against corrosion. Combined with our tough exterior powder coating, the steel frame and wall panels are highly rust-resistant and designed to handle harsh British weather for decades.
We recommend checking and clearing your gutters once or twice a year, ideally in late autumn after leaf fall. If your building sits directly underneath trees, an extra spring check helps prevent leaf overflow and dirty streaks down the panels.
If a heavy object scratches the powder coating down to bare metal, clean the area with mild soap, let it dry, and touch it up using a matching RAL touch-up paint pen or spray. This restores the sealed barrier in under two minutes.
High-grade architectural powder coatings resist UV radiation far better than standard timber paints or wet paints. While extreme sun exposure over many years can cause slight softening of sheen, the colour stability and protective qualities remain intact.
Saline air accelerates metal corrosion. If you live within a mile of the coast, simply wash down your building panels with freshwater every 3 to 4 months to rinse away salt deposits and keep the finish in top condition.
